Share the vehicle, not the compromise.
Join other travellers on a set route and split the cost of the vehicle and guide. The same guiding, the same parks, and a lower price per person.
Upcoming departures
Every departure below is the same shared vehicle, the same 6-seat cap, and a fixed date that does not move once it is guaranteed.
Next departures are being scheduled
We publish dates here as soon as they’re set. Tell us your preferred month and trip in the meantime, and we’ll email you the moment a matching date opens.
The routes that run as groups
Every group safari runs on one of these 4 routes. Pick one and tell us your month; we’ll put you on a departure or schedule one against it. Kilimanjaro treks and a Zanzibar extension can be added on request.

How it works
- You pick a route and dates, from the departures above or by telling us the month you want.
- We match you with other travellers booked on the same departure. We never put different itineraries in one vehicle.
- You confirm with a 30% deposit, on the same terms as a private safari. The departure is guaranteed once 2 travellers have booked, and we confirm that in writing.
- Everyone meets in Arusha the evening before departure, with the guide who'll be with you for the whole trip.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits solo travellers, couples on a budget, people who enjoy company at the end of the day, and shorter trips, where splitting the vehicle makes the biggest difference to the price.
It doesn't suit families with young children, photographers who need to stay put at a sighting, honeymooners, or anyone who wants to set the pace. For them, a private safari is the honest recommendation.
The honest trade-offs
- The group sets the pace, not you.
- You can't choose your companions.
- Staying at a long sighting needs everyone in the vehicle to agree.
- The route is fixed. If you want to change it, that's a private safari.
If not enough people join
A departure runs once 2 travellers have booked. If fewer than 2 have joined 45 days before the date, we tell you then, so you always hear at least 45 days before departure. You choose: move to another departure, upgrade to a private safari and pay only the difference, or take a full refund of everything you've paid.
- Accommodation as listed, on a full-board basis
- Park, conservation and Crater fees
- Shared vehicle and English-speaking guide throughout
- Game drives and listed activities
- Airport transfers in Arusha
- Drinking water in the vehicle
- International flights
- Tanzanian visa
- Travel insurance, which we ask every traveller to hold
- Tips for guides and camp staff
- Premium drinks and personal spending
- Optional extras such as balloon flights
The guide price shows roughly where you stand. We confirm one all-in price once dates, group size and accommodation are known, and that price does not change.
Questions travellers actually ask
Other independent travellers, usually couples and solo travellers from Europe, North America and elsewhere. We'll tell you the group size before you confirm.
Not for the seat: seats are priced individually. Rooms are twin-share, so a single supplement applies only if you want a room to yourself, or if we can't pair you with another solo traveller of the same gender on your departure. Tell us and we'll quote both options before you book.
Yes, any time before the balance is due. We'll requote the trip as a private safari and you pay the difference.
Usually from 12, and only with the other travellers' agreement. For younger children we recommend a private safari, where the day can bend around them.
Your guide manages the day, so nobody has to negotiate every stop, and in a group of 6 or fewer it's rarely a problem. If you'd rather not share a room with another solo traveller, ask for a room to yourself and we'll quote the supplement.
A Group Safari is one way to see Tanzania. Here's what the private alternative looks like, and what either one actually costs.
